i tell lies on a grand scale, not for any personal gain, but for simple pleasure. now as a result no-one takes me seriously, so i have taken to lying to myself, but am struggling to believe myself. any hints on how to convince myself i'm lying and at the same time remain believable

troubled joe, i'm sorry to be hearing that you are so troubled, and more so because you're a pathological liar. with me, i'm too honest, maybe because we are 2 extreme opposites, we could possibly find a harmonious balance between your question and my answer?
Well, for one, I can honestly say that if you can acknowledge that you are a serious liar, you're not really lying to yourself, so, yet again, you've lied to yourself, because its really a truth! i'd say you're making progress, and you probably are not as troubled as you thought. i also think that you're more intelligent than you give yourself credit for, or perhaps you could be if you channel your lies very carefully, so that they cancel themselves out, just like you did in your question. you see, this evil which is lies, can be defeated! In truth, lies have one fundamental purpose, that of destroying, that of breaking down (trust, relationships, sensibility, happiness) rather than building up. Some people say that they use lies for good. (maybe not to hurt other people's feelings, but that, even though it has an "element" of truth, is still a blatant lie!) i'll tell you why. honesty is always good. to use honesty for ill intentions is not good. to say to someone they are adopted cause their parents didnt love them enough, nor want them, might be truthful, but its hurtful, so the intentions of one who says this to an adopted person, is twisted and *thats* what makes it wrong. so, one NEVER needs to be sparing with the truth, but sometimes, because of our flawed society, in order to survive, we all resort to lies. anyone claiming otherwise, is a liar, myself included. see? i just can't help being honest, i am a confessed liar. as for lying to myself, that is a big no, no. lying to oneself is a self-destructive, its the worst kind of lying because it amounts to suicide. you probably chose it cause, its easy to lie, you get a big kick out of it that no one can "tell" that you are lying, its not like you're attached to a lie detector so, because you CAN you do it. perhaps you lie to push people away. maybe you've suffered intense rejection as a child so when you lie, you've pushed someone away (or started the starting point thereof) so that you've inflicted the pain, rather than it being inflicted on you? its good that you've reached out and started asking for help...otherwise
failing all of this, then you're probably just a cheeky little kid playing word games and trying to sound intelligent...sigh.
well, i hope that in all of the brutal honesty of my response, you'll see that my intentions have been based on a truthful pursuit of the core and cause of your lying nature.

You are an attention seeker who has nothing good to talk about, because you have no information to give to people, and feel you can't get involved in a conversation with out an elaborate story. My suggestion to you is to get a life, get some hobbies therefore you will then have things to talk about and wont feel it necessary to make up elaborate story's otherwise known as Lies.

I truly have earlier.. i not in any respect knew what to believe.. its cuz i wasn't smooth with who i develop into and what i lloked like so i'd make issues as a lot as be "extra exciting" to others.. an exceedingly unhappy time in everyones existence.. i imagine that anybody lies to themselves and that is the worst issues!!

I don't know why you should be having any trouble. The person easiest to deceive is oneself.
