We've had an electrical problem and I have to be here to let the electrician in and then lock up when he leaves, look, I just don't know how long he'll be here so it's probably best you cover my shift.. Works a treat for me. Feel free to replace electrician with plumber. eg. the toilets blocked up and started spewing out onto the floor. Don't use the dead relative excuse! You'll feel really bad if something actually happens to them! Enjoy your sickie! (aussie slang for day off work when your not actually sick : )

The best one I know is my water pipe broke and I have to stay home and wait for the plumber to come.If you have family you can say that someone in your family is really hurt and you need to stay home and get things arranged for them.Oh you could just go to work and not worry about it.
