Is it true that external writers save off some memory work from my laptop or PC? I am keen on getting a new Samsung WriteMaster External DVD Writer, but I am not sure if it's gonna perform well using my laptop. It runs on an AMD Mobile Sempron 1.6 Ghz processor, which has 60G hard drive memory, and 480 MB RAM. I also have a desktop PC which runs using an Intel Celron D 2.53 GHz processor, has 30G hard drive memory and 192 MB RAM. Will these work well? I need some helpful, non-techie opinion. ;-)

If you want to use dvd writer with both computer and laptop then external dvd writer would be a good choice but they are much more costlier than internal dvd writer.

It should work with the configurations you provided.

Yes the burner will work...with these drives...the only thing that is really an issue is your OS and your Ram. With the specs you listed...you should be fine.
