well...I ballet dance and I'm a 3-5 in jeans, I'm 5 foot 6 inches and weigh around 110-115 pounds....but even though its easier to dance when you're fit..it's not impossible for someone who is over weight to dance. It just takes a lot of dedication and practice. There is no specific weight rule that ballet dancers follow. Don't stress on being skinny enough. I don't think many studios reject students for not weighing the right amount. Just stay healthy. If you think its really an issue, do some walking in the morning, drink a lot of water, eat healthier, do some cardio workouts and pilates and stretch A LOT,

I've just took up ballet lessons like about 2 days ago. When i went there wern't any overweight people.. so it's obvious you must be slim.

I'm guessing ballet dancers come in all shapes an sizes.. but you have advantages of being a tall ballet dancer that a small ballet dancer won't have. And vice versa.

So all sizes :) . I wouldn't worry about it.

I have been a ballet dancer for many years. When I was 12 I was 5' 6" and 88 pounds. The weight for dancers doesn't matter it's ability that counts and how much strength and perseverence you show. If you are confident with yourself thats what will stand out not your weight.

Although, it is important to have stong legs and a fit body.

<3<3 Good Luck!!!
