Wonder whether all the fuss we make about Freedom is meaningless since anything that gives us real happiness involves binding ourselves in one way or the other.

Yes, freedom is a misplaced value, because we do NOT have freedom in our society.

We have to be polically correct when we speak out,
have a limited "right to bear arms",
we have the right to vote, but noone worth voting for............
......... I have freedom but only within the limit of the law, it doesn't seem fair.

Freedom is not what is there outside. It is very much what you feel? You can feel free even in a prison. If body movement is there, but, mind is imprisoned, how can you say you are free. If mind doesn't feel free even in a free soceity can you call it freedom? If you do not have desire. You can no requirement, no attachment, whatever condition you are in, you are free. If you have 100s of requirements and desires met 75 of them and couldn;t meet 25 due to any issues like money, social inturruption etc, can you say you are 100% free? Freedom is the mindset which frees everything from everything.

"There is but one constant and that is change"
"The more things change, the more they stay the same"
