bluebottle and lnk: I did download FLV player and I could save goole video on my machine but then it only plays with that player and not with windows. I wonder if I can record it on DVD and then be able to play it on a dvd player (formatwise I mean).

If your browser is firefox you can download a small plugin called Videodownloader which allows you to save video from sites like youtube and google video. Works like a charm. Hope that helps.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/
Once installed its a tiny icon that will be in the bottom right corner of your browser. Just click on it while on the page with the video you want and a window will open with instructions on downloading. Easy as.

You should be able to download them via the site - certainly for google videos. I think you will need realplayer and/or Windows media player to view them.
There is a small button on the right of the movies (google) which says download to Win/Mac. Select it and it should ask you to save the file.

No you cant download/save it on your local machine. You can do it in google but every time you need the internet connection to play it. To download from google you first need the google vedio player. Remember for google vedios its a shortcut only you can download.
But you cant save the vedio in YouTube.

one of the simplest way would be youtubeX @ http://www.youtubex.com/
"YouTube.com is an excellent website that allows you to view saved videos on their servers. Unfortuneatly YouTube doesn't allow you to download these videos. YouTubeX.com allows you to save YouTube videos and download YouTube videos easily using only your IE or firefox browser."
