Once you have set it to slave or master! Xp cd will then do the rest.

Most modern systems (pretty much any machine that will run XP) will autodetect a new hard drive during the boot process. Check the jumper on the old drive when you remove it and make sure the replacement is jumpered the same way and you should be fine.

To reinstall XP, just put your XP CD in the CD drive, turn the machine on, and follow the instructions.

Insert Bootable Windows CD in your CD ROM
Now go to your BIOS setup> Booting sequence>Choose CD Rom first> Save > Exit > Press any key to boot from CD>

Now do whatever u want to do

You can format your hard drive, make partition etc. then choose C to install windows

Any computer that you have bought in the last 10 years or so is going to have a Plug and Play BIOS. It should detect the hard drive automatically.

You'll need to format it. Use an old windows start up disk and format it from DOS mode.
