I've read the first 3 of the "Number One Ladies' Detective Agency" books and enjoyed the first one, but loved the next two. I actually thought they got better as they went along - or maybe it was me falling under his spell. I love the way he writes; it is so warm and loving. In a mad, fast world where priorities seem all wrong somehow, it is so rejuvenating to enter his world, and slow down, and drink that rooibosch tea ,sip by sip, and understand what really matters.
I'm reading some of his others soon; my friend has the first two in his "44 Scotland Street" series and she says they are really great, so will lend them to me later this week. Looking forward to them!

I read The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency and thought it a bit simple, you could tell what was going to happen.
Have got the next 2 in the series but haven't got round to reading them yet.

Yes. His stuff (especially Mma Ramotswe books) make the ideal chilling material in between grand historical epics. And "The Finer Points of Sausage Dogs," was probably the funniest book I read last year.

I like the Mma Ramotswe novels set in Botswana, but I haven't read any of his other books yet.
