I have always harboured feelings that the English over glorify their game. They only come down to earth after a failed mission (and there as many as the number of international competition since 1966 Worlcup). It would be an insult to France to be compared alongside England.
France only lost there first away qualifier to Scotland since Euro 2002 qualifiers. They put up a splendid display at the worldcup finals only to loose to a battle hardened Azurus. To prove this, they followed this display with a 3-1 win over the Azurus just a month after the worldcup. They have produced world footballer of the year since lifting the worldcup in 1998 and the Euro 2000.
With no insult intended, the only person to have lifted a major personal trophy in England is Micheal Owen who failed to lift himself up in the recently concluded Worldcup. Many have been produced (in the Media not on the pitch) along these lines, Beckham, Gerard, Rooney even a Lampard (my Gosh) to mention but a few. Who is the last man standing?????
