I just learned that here in Ohio we are trying to pass a no-smoking law, yet not one lousy polotician or lobbyist group has said anything about the fact that it isn't against the law for sexual offenders to obtain jobs where they have access to children. I may not be a political science major but don't you think that it would benefit the state and it's citizens more if you forgot about whether I smoke a cigarette after a good meal and worry about the damn pedofile who may be working as your childs crossing guard? God sometimes the ignorance of it all makes me sick. Vote for me for state senate this year and I will use common sense and common decency to determine my political stance on matters and not wether some idiot went out of his way to gather signatures just cause they don't like smoking and worry about REAL issues. Why , as Americans, do we allow our lives to be dictated by the few. Isn't it Majority rules? Yet most issues are never brought before the majority. Ironic eh?

Summer...I am joking. I am not running for office. A bit of my sarcastic side. When and if the day comes that I chose to persue an office trust me...you will know where I stand on the issues. I will not partake in this "Well I'm not as bad as that guy" or "I have a plan but will wait until elected to tell you about it" campaign tactics that seem to be about all our candidates are good for.

As a fellow resident of the "buckeye state" a cold chill ran down my spine when I read your question, about the smoking ban. They have been edging toward it, banning smoking in some buildings, cheaper on the fire insurance. I've even had the unfortunate experience of working in a factory that you weren't allowed to smoke on the property of. At lunch you could leave the property, but I was always a little confused at what to do on cigarette brakes, so only worked there for two weeks. Some restaurant's don't allow smoking though I didn't mind so much since I could avoid them.

To sum up: "They'll get my cigars / cigarettes when they pry 'em from my cold dead hand.

and I agree about the pedophile thing but couldn't get my opinion on that matter in under 1,000 characters.

Yes, you're right! Drop the smoking/anti-smoking issues and focus on something more important such as pedophiles or the drug problem. I am a non-smoker, but here in Michigan (Grand Rapids) they want to make health care workers prohibited from smoking on hospital grounds (not even in their cars). They are not even allowed to come in to work smelling like smoke. Enough already people!

I agree with you wholeheartedly, and I am not a smoker. Some of the things that take precedence with government, whether it be state, local, or whatever, is beyond my range of thinking. Just like here in Ohio they were having a debate over which fish to name as our state fish. That time, effort, and MONEY could be used FAR better somewhere sensible.

The Smoking Issues are Ballot Initiatives and are not up to Ohio's Legislature. I don't get what you're trying to say.
