Because cynical underhanded Republicans combined the minimum wage bill with a bill to eliminate the estate tax. If they voted yes, it would allow the Republicans to further bankrupt America.

Some are finally admitting that raising the minimum wage causes hundreds of thousands of lay-offs.
It's been common knowledge for years.
But the Democrats depend on the ignorance of their base to NOT know common knowledge.
