YOU CAN BE VIEWED WITHOUT PERMISSION!
Anita Zultan is correct, you can be seen without granting permission, one website i know of is http://www.oatmealmedia.net so you can see for yourself. If you are using yahoo webcam, you are at risk.

They can view you
They can record you
They can even replay you over their own webcam.

Dear,

You are right ! sir....Without giving access permission no one can acess the webcam...thats true..but still a small problem is there...

As your wife said theres a chance to view her webcam too. You know that theres lots of softwares now to view webcam without permission. That means if the webcam is available online,i mean connected online then using this software ( view webcam without permission software) available at net,any user on the net can view anyones webcam without getting access permission from the person. REMEMBER !- only this is possible if the webcam is online connected with pc.

About the software :- The software has a cam window and a yahoo id coloumn.Just put the desired persons yahoo id inside the coloumn and press enter. Then the user can access the desired ID persons webcam without permission if the webcam is online connected with pc.

If the stream is not encrypted, a hacker could theoretically tap into the video stream, just like it's possible to tap into a phone conversation, but it's pretty unlikely.

If the webcam is on a website, and the preferences are set to allow anyone to view it, then anyone who visits that web site can see it, but if the preferences are set to require acceptance, then only those who are accepted can see it.

It all depends on how the webcam software is configured. If it's set to act as a true webcam (i.e. pushes pictures to a website), then yes, anyone who knows the URL of that site can watch the camera. If it's set so it will only communicate via IM/chat software, then the stream can be kept private.

Ha ha, cute. You have to allow people to see your picture, and you are notified before allowing them.

Can you imagine the billions of images across the entire world's computer screen if everytime someone turned on a webcam, everyone could see it??
