a few weeks ago i got bad cramps and assumed it was my period but i got big blood clots and then a normal period followed.
Is it normal to have blood clots as a period?
im not on any contraceptive.

Yes, lots of people pass clots during their period, particularly if they have heavy periods. There's always a possibility of a miscarriage though - have you been having unprotected sex? If the cramps were a lot worse than usual and you don't usually pass clots, and there is a chance you could have been pregnant, then you may have experienced an early miscarriage. However, it could just be as simple as a heavy period.

Yes, blood clots are normal. Most of your period is not blood anyways. It's tissue and mucus. Cool eh?

Yes, many people get them during there period. That is just what we get along with the blood.

yes this is just caused by a heavy period
