From a female point of view, I always wanted a brother but had 2 sisters. My father said as long as you get along they are all good. He had 6 sisters and 6 brothers.

I don't think there is a clear answer to this. It depends entirely upon the family, situation, child(ren). I grew up an only child and I always wanted a brother. Well. my best friend had a brother and always wanted to be an only child (haha, brother was a little sh*t). Some boys would rather have a brother so they have someone they can relate to to play with. Other boys may want a sister so the sister doesn't play with their toys. Same goes for the girls. Some girls might be tomboys and need a brother to rough-house with. Whereas the girly-girl needs another girl for dolls, dress-up, etc.

Or you could be like my children - they're 21/2 and 10 months. They wrestle, they play with dolls, they play with soccerball, baseballs, you name it.

Elder - sister, younger- brother.

My elder sis is my strength, and covers up for me whenever I get into trouble.

But when I was younger, I used to wish I had a younger brother that I cud play footer with,
