The Age of Enlightenment is not the fanciful creation of an ideologue like Michael Moore. If you are demanding references, I suggest you go back to school. I put the wikipedia up as a quick reference. It would be better to read Rousseau and Locke and the Federalist Papers, but that's asking a bit too much of strangers on Yahoo! answers.

They've likely heard of it, but believe that it was a "liberal" movement that happened much later, somewhere around 1960 or so. In fact they talk as if banning prayer in public school was a recent Supreme Court decision. Didn't that godless liberal, Sanda Day OConnor cast the deciding vote?

Orwell described how and why the populus learns such information.

I hoid that, yes I hoid it.

Actually Jefferson and Hamilton and all the others never could agree. And I do remember the Salem Witch Trials.

And, yes, there was intolerance, and yes there were Jews even then.

Can I just say, it has now been proven that the actions of the last 6 years has been possible because of the lack of education, the propensity to arrogance, the inertia that has been generated and the compliance of the immoral, conservative Christian Right.

The rest of us are not being fooled, but as our representatives have allowed this mess to be created, I really worry for all our well being.

It doesn't take a so called rocket scientist to see that the U.S. was founded on Judeo Christian beliefs as it should be and should remain. But as the Bible says of those that seek unenlightened psuedo knowledge."Having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof." "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." That is why the U.S today is in such turmoil and corruption, it has turned from The Lord and the only true enlightenment, His Holy Word.
