Well, you are offering the extremes here. I certainly do not believe everything the government says. Far from it. But I think habitual liars may be going a little too far. We do have a free press, more or less, and we do hear about it if the politicians get caught lying. And they do get caught often enough to demonstrate that we can't assume they do not lie. So I guess my answer is they probably lie as often as they feel they can get away with.

Neither.

The government, generally, tells us what they think we need to know, keeps things from us that would endanger "national security", etc. That leaves it to us to demand or investigate those things that we think we need to know or want to know.

Nor are they habitual liars. There are some who believe in our government and the freedom of the people to know about their government and its decisions.

I take what they say and find out for myself if I am interested in the subject. They always put a spin on things( I am being kind here) and the news is always exactly what they want you to hear.

I don't believe anything the Democrats say. Their success has always been dependent on the ignorance of their base, who actually believe Democrat lies and deception.
