Totally. It makes the charcter seem more interesting when you get into it and it makes playing it more fun. I love over acting a character because the audience is able to get into the scene more.

Yeah, whenever I try to play a part, Itry to see the world their way and then use that to help me.

Like if I was playing a part of agirl who hates life then I'd try to see it her way, and same thing if it was the opposite...

If I cant I try to understand them, if I cant I ask a friend for help (esp. if that friend is going through or went through the same things the character has been through)

Depends on the type of character she is. If she posesses some of my characteristics, then yes. If she is annoying and doesn't do a whole lot but whine, then no.....

Yes, I always try to build a history in my mind so I can understand what has brought them to this point in their life. Sometimes it helps to imagine a future too, so I can undrestand why they are doing whatever it is they are doing.

it usually depends on the part - though I guess you need to have some empathy with the character to help you be them - specially if you're going all stanislavski :)
