It should no doubt be legalized.
The government could grow it, package it, and sell it. They could get rid of the budget deficit by doing this instead of blowing taxpayer's money by making "big drug busts", showing us agents burning pot plants, like it's a big deal.
Hey guys - cocaine and crack and heroine are REAL drugs that people kill for. I've smoked weed for almost 30 years. Never felt like killing anyone. My brain is fine. I'm the boss of 30 guys who constantly ask for my help and input and need my assistance and they don't even smoke it. My memory is fine. And no matter what they say (remember, THEY have never smoked it), it is not some dangerous mind altering drug. Alcohol is way worse for you than weed. Plus, it's something not altered like heroine, etc. You grow it, pick it, dryit, smoke it. It's not cut with anything. It's all natural, JUST LIKE TOBACCO, WHICH KILLS HUNDEREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE A YEAR.
Doesn't make sense.
Check these facts out------

Alcohol - 110,000
RX Drugs - 100,000
Suicide - 30,000
Homicide - 15,000
Aspirin/Painkillers - 7600
Marijuana - 0

Legalization would create a mess.If you applied the same procedures as there are presently for alcohol & tobacco.
Plenty of revenue to be had but at what cost.
Easier way would be to decriminalize cultivation for personal use, either medicinal or recreational.
Limit the number of plants per person grown either indoors or on private property.. May work that way in Alaska?
Stiff penalties for use in public, furnishing to minors ,etc.
Eventually the demand for the contraband variety will drop & law "enforcement" $$ could be better spent elsewhere.
Charge a fee for a limited growing permit...get some revenue.
If you choose to use it in your own home or backyard ,you should be OK.
Great for Pizza stores & Chinese restaurants that deliver.

Legalized, commercially packaged, taxed like crazy, and users should be subject to the exact same sanctions that govern the use of other intoxicants. Then we wouldn't be wasting money chasing the growers and sellers, and it probably wuldn't cost as much either.

Yes it is a legitimate herb that can treat certain diseases ... it is natural unlike these pills we have that have who knows what in them, to put it simply .... imagine u have a disease that is serious and causes pain and injury... and there is only one drug that can cure or treat it.. and that drug is illegal just for the fact the government above u cannot TAX IT to make more $$.

While I am not a user, I do think we spend too much manpower, money, and time worrying over a roach in an ashtray when there are so many bigger, more dangerous drugs out there that are killing people.
