All of the above! I will take your excellent question a step further and warn everyone that the powerful pharmaceutical industry employs more lobbyists than any other entity; it has a tremendous influence over the government and the FDA (even providing the FDA with most of its funding... talk about conflict of interest); it supports and pays for physicians' text books and curriculum, thus training physicians from the get-go that prescribing drugs is the way to go; and it has caused a culture of over-dependency and addiction to pharmaceutical drugs in the USA and other countries. Doctors now prescribe drugs first and foremost instead of looking for natural remedies or the true root causes of disease. As a result, we are becoming fatter and sicker and spending more on hazardous prescription drugs than ever before.

Drug companies and medical institutions. Most of the research has always been funded privately and through Government grant programs at no cost to the drug companies. Your research should reveal these facts.

F, but especially C. And you liberals, since we're talking specifcally about drug companies, it is drug company greed, so you don't have to say "corporate greed," your usual mantra. All corporations are not evil.
And great additions by rsist 34.and birdsnake.

Even the street drugs are high. I wish they'd legalize them so the price would come down.

f and you forgot one. The price people are awarded for lawsuits. They shouldn't be allowed to get millions of dollars for some of the things they sue for. It raises the cost of mal-practice insurance thus the dr's. raise their prices for visits and treatment.
