We don't have to...we just do. A Canadian flag indicates that the traveller is Canadian. Legend/history has shown that when you wear one, people leave you alone and treat you well

As I Canadian, I don´t have to wear a Canadian pin when I travel, but I sometimes do. I was 2002 in Paris and I wore a Canadian pin there. The French thought that I was an American "disguised" as a Canadian. I was told that after 9/11 many Americans who travel around Europe wear a Canadian pin. By wearing the pin I think that the Americans feel safer when travelling!?

It's a government requirement, no I'm only teasing. Canadians are proud of where we come from, our flag is very easily identifiable in airport luggage carriers, but also recognized by many citizens .

Known fact that wearing our Canadian flag on lapels or backpacks often gets us better treatment because we are not assumed to be Americans. It's the truth, I know I've travelled with mine and people just greet Canadians in a more friendly manner when they see that red maple leaf.

genuine. and a few would even declare to be Canadian to any casual friends they make at the same time as traveling from my journey. yet till now you panic: this is not through fact the the remainder of the international "hate" individuals. this is through fact individuals have a attractiveness of being very, very ignorant bearing directly to the the remainder of the international and as a consequence plenty of their movements are in many situations perceived as stupid and/or rude. And who needs to be taken care of like some one with a psychological handicap each and all of the time? So them "hiding" in the back of a Canadian flag makes a lot of sense to me ;-)

Because that way we don't get mistaken for Americans.

And on top of that, the citizens of countries our country liberated in WW2 are generally very welcoming to Canadians.
