Play 2nd position (cross harp) on a C harmonica which will put you in the key of G, which is how most blues players use the diatonic harmonica.

Sorry..........just re-read your question. For the key of E (strictly speaking E minor) you need to play 5th position on a C harmonica.

I recommend A , C , Db , G

Also it is best to get a blues harp or a Marine Band harmonica for blues.
