Since Bill and his co-founders created the first BASIC programming language for the first microcomputer ever--the Altair, and has been intimately involved in programming and design work for most of his working life, I'd think he is a geek, a very knowledgeable person in the computing community. In addition, since he has been able to create a company and make it into the number 1 personal computer software company in the world, I'd assume that he has at least genius-level marketing skills. In addition, he has been chief designer after he gave up being president. No one knows everything about computers. But he knows a heck of a lot more than most people in the industry.

I've no doubt he knows everything there is - and more - but with all his money, he doesn't even have to be able to read any more - he can just pay somebody else to do it for him!
