I assume you mean why do Americans have pickup trucks? I use mine for hauling things that won't fit in cars. Lumber, drywall, etc. Also use it for trailer towing. A car doesn't have the muscle needed to pull a fully loaded skid loader trailer.

We move a lot! We are always moving to another location to live, and we use our pick-up trucks to move with. A lot of people here move about every six months. Also; we buy a lot of junk, and need a way to haul it. Big screen televisions, and other heavy stuff that won't fit in a car. I have a pickup truck, and I'm all the time using it for something. I would be lost without it, so I wouldn't consider selling it. Have fun!!

Pickup trucks have more ground clearance, more power and better visibility than a typical car. I like that I can tow or haul whatever I need to with my truck. I also can store my tools in the bed-mounted tool box. It goes along with the independant american spirit to some degree. It feels good to be well equipped with a capable vehicle and tools, chains, rope, jacks, flashlights, etc.

Some are for farming, hauling big stuff, pulling trailers (horse, cattle). Others are for those who like big vehicles. A Statement. Some people need them, others waste them.
