understanding basic morphology and motility would be the most obvious reasons, beyond that, the reasons are numerous and obvious

Probably no none answered for 15 hours because it's so obvious. It's one of the most fundamental tools for both learning and doing microbiology. If you want to do anything well, you need to learn your tools.
