Try a community college or some western bars will give dance instruction on certain days. You could also call a dance studio to see if they teach classes. The 3 step is so easy, and the waltz. Those are the only basic two you have to know. Or if you are trying to dance to rock or new wave. Try going in your room and turn on your music. Turn off all the lights and close your eyes. You have to take in the music. Feel the beat, listen to the music. Find the beat, 1,2,3,4, in reps like that. let the music ab orb you and you will find your rhythm.

Nothing is impossible, Sreya. If you desire to learn western dance fundamentally, you have to learn it from the basics. Find out any good dancing school in South Calcutta. There are good number of such schools is Bangalore. However, one thing I want to advise you to buy some good CDs of western music and try to dance in your private room. Follow the rhythm and step accordingly. Gradually you would find it easy to step according to the music. Regular practice would make you familiar with the art of dancing. Good luck!

To the bedroom. In front of the mirror. With your eyes on the mirror. First try to get over the hesitation of "moving to the music". If you join a dance school with the block of not being able to in your mind, you will not be able to learn even there.
Trust me. It was the same with me for swimming. And I learnt it on my own, without a coach. In a shallow pool.
