It is part of "soul food". It just part of coming from the South. You know, when people don't have much money, you raise chickens for food. Also, it goes good with the "soul food", turnip greens, ham hocks and green beans, black eye peas, corn bread, etc. This is just great kind of food, fattening as heck, but we are not African Americans, and we love that kind of food. We are from the South, and when I was young, there was an African American woman who came to our house and helped my Mother with the housework. She ever now and then cooked us a meal. I remember going to her house as well. This has all changed and not the same any more. My Mother and her Aunt went to her funeral, they were the only white people there. This is something that most people do not understand, that there is a bond between the different races, and from way back, something special. I thought of this woman as one of the family and she did too. She was a Deaconess in her church. I really did love her. That era is gone now, and much different type of attitude, but in those days, you could go down to where she lived and no one would think anything of it. Now, you would probably get shot.

When an African American has a white spot on his body he most probably has some kind of an illness, where as if a white were to have a black spot - it would be known as a beauty spot ( a la Cindy! ). Thats the difference between an African American and Fried chicken.

Chicken used to be a luxury item. Remember some president around WWII era saying that he was going to 'put a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage'? Well, having fried chicken was a real delicacy to poorer folks in the past and it has become a part of their culture.

It's a Southern thing. Ain't nothing so fine as Southun Frahed Chicken. It's not a black thing - it's just that many blacks are in the South or their mammas learned to fry the chicken right. ;-)
