Advantage: Easy to generate heat and thus useful to warm-blooded lifeforms.

Disadvantage: Means we can never reach 100% efficiency...bummer.

ADVANTAGES OF FRICTION
Friction plays a vital role in our daily life. Without friction we are handicap.
1. It is becomes difficult to walk on a slippery road due to low friction. When we move on ice, it becomes difficult to walk due to low friction of ice.
2. We can not fix nail in the wood or wall if there is no friction. It is friction which holds the nail.
3. A horse can not pull a cart unless friction furnishes him a secure Foothold.
DISADVANTAGES OF FRICTION
Despite the fact that the friction is very important in our daily life, it also has some disadvantages like:
1. The main disadvantage of friction is that it produces heat in various parts of machines. In this way some useful energy is wasted as heat energy.
2. Due to friction we have to exert more power in machines.
3. It opposes the motion.
4. Due to friction, noise is also produced in machines.
5. Due to friction, engines of automobiles consume more fuel which is a money loss.

ADVANTAGES 1) Helps us walk, we wud slip if not for friction 2) Helps us hold on to things 3) Tecnically, helps running of rope and belt drives 4) Helps absorb kinetic energy (As in braking a car) 5) Helps in intermittent power transmission, when required (clutch) DISADVANTAGES 1) Produces heat 2) Reduces mechanical efficiency of ALL MACHINES!!!! 3) absorbs any kinetic energy (which may have been useful) 4) is one of the most important causes of wear and tear 5) Friction loss in automobiles is causes a lot of engine power to be wasted, this increases fuel consumption Cheers bro, hope it helps ya

Advantages of friction are:-
1) We can write on a paper or on a board.
2) Friction helps in applying the brakes.
3) It helps in walking on floor.

Disadvantages of friction are:-
1) Wearing and tearing of machinery parts occur.
2) Reduces the efficiency of our vehicles.

(1) Friction is undesireable when moving at high speed because it opposes the motion.
(2) Most of our useful energy is lost as heat and sound due to the friction between various moving parts of machines.
(3) In machines, friction also causes wear and tear of their moving parts.
(4) Friction is most desirable We cannot write if there would be no friction between paper and the pencil.
(5) Friction enables us to walk on the ground. We cannot run on a slippery ground.A slippery ground offers very little friction
(6) Anybody who tries to run on a slippery ground may meet an accident.

Next time you want to stop or slow your car, be grateful for friction.

If you want to walk across a floor without slipping over and banging your tush, thank friction.

If you ever wanted to make a perpetual motion machine, curse friction for leaking all that energy.

And you can get nasty friction burns making love on a carpeted floor.
