And yet it's the spoiled, whiny little sh*ts that always get the most presents. It has a lot more to do with shutting the mouthy kids up than anything else. Good kids don't really care whether or not they get presents, and when they do they are a lot more appreciative than they whiny ones.
Besides, if you spend year after year lying that Santa exists, how do you expect to still trust you after they find out that you've been lying to them all those years?

Sadly the children that get the most at Christmas grow up to be the worst of people generally.
But does one mistake make a bad child no. 2 bad parents do. Everyone deserves to be happy at least one day a year. And what is with people constantly bashing Santa on this site.
If you don't believe in Santa he won't believe in you!!
Lets have one day a year where we don't have to act mature or cool. Lets forget about global warming, and Iraq and use or imaginations and try to have fun. MAking other people miserable with your cynicism does not make you any happier.

the real german story without the beautification of modern times is that santa only comes to the good kids houses, and all the naughty kids get taken in a bag away from their family. so i guess we haven't been doing that much bad after all

sure Christmas time is a special time in every child's life, and it is not so much about behavior, but about the closeness that families enjoy as kids open their undeserved gifts. Christmas is a time when even grumps have a tingling in their bellies to lose their grumpiness and get down with the kids and enjoy what families are supposed to share everyday but don't....nothing can match the joy of helping kids assemble toys and seeing their sparkling eyes as they open presents...even if my son were the worst boy on earth, I couldn't deny him nor me the joy of Christmas.

Don't we all do bad things every now and then? Ultimately, it teaches children to do good over bad; that is the real benefit of teaching your children about Santa.

Gosh. If that was the case, nobody would get a gift from Santa. The question reminded me of my 6 year old niece who went to a friend's house for lunch and they said grace. Linda said, "we have to pray for soup?"

No man is perfect including children. Commiting sin does not disqualify a person from receiving gifts in their life (not just during christmas). Giving presents on christmass does not rest on being perfect or sinless but it rest on the spirit of generousity and love to humankind especially to chidren.

My Santa commentary is at the first link below. I can't decide if it's the cruelest bit of comedy I've ever seen, or the funniest bit of cruelty.
