I am thinking of starting writing songs, and get my old high school buddy to help with the music, but I need to know what is the sound of nowadays, country,pop...? I wrote a song called Devil Man and got it recorded but my gf says that it has good lyrics but not real good sound for these days, what sound is she talking about and if you listen to music what is the main favorite out there to listen to songs about life, death or Love or just your random subject....All you help is appreciated, Thanks Blue

Life, death, love AND YOUR RANDOM SUBJECTS, the last one not the least. Consider, setting lyrics of "sound of nowadays" to that of a waltz! Do remember, to take the permission and views of your g/f. Best of luck to your spirit of enterprise!

I think the sound of today is non serious pop rock. You don't wanna be an emo band but i guess something like the arctic monkeys is the sound of today. Unless you wanna rap lol!!

Rock. That's about it. Now, I'm assuming you don't care for rapping about "smacking yo b*tch up" or sh*t like that, so I'm going to stick with rock. Of course, if you even need to ask about this, I'm guessing you'd probably be better with something like adult alternative, which is prevalent on VH1. They pretty much sing about everything you mentioned.
