First of all Good Luck (I'm only a second year teacher myself)

- Group work can be effective - but make sure you pick the groups yourself.
-Is there any reason why you can't split the topic into two lesson do a lesson on the notes and rhythms they need and a lesson to compose?
- If you don't have anything technological like computers (thinking of my schools music rooms) then you could get them to find the notes you need on the key board at the start of the lesson - some kind of starter activity.
- Clap out the rhythm?

I hope this is of use - although the computer program above sounds like fun.

I do a circle time with my a million 365 days olds popular. We pass over our colorations, shapes, sing our ABC's, count selection from a million to ten, call physique aspects (factor to them), and use sign language for uncomplicated words like devour, extra, all finished, provide up, sorry, please, thank you, drink, milk, cup. I do various paint activities for paintings. in case you employ paint ask mom and dad to herald a paint shirt and additionally positioned liquid hand cleansing soap interior the paint and combine it with a craft stick or a paintbrush. That way it is going to come off their palms with water and out of clothing in the event that they are washed interior the showering gadget. So the lesson plan could be gaining expertise of a clean sign, physique area, letter or selection each and every week. different lesson plans could contain issues like sharing your toys, making use of your words, pushing on your chair after lunch, ect. issues which will help them earnings independence. desire this facilitates.

ask the school to download acidxpress onto the school computers... http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/download/step2.asp?DID=551
it allows the student to compile loops of rythms and such into a musical piece such as a 12 bar blues.... my class in yr 8 was asked to do this for an assessment but we did it for dance music. it is extremely simple to use and free.... students can even download it at home and continue working there by sending their project file home.....

Isn't blues just a number of notes? Put them on the keyboards, teach them the notes they can use and tell them it will work in any order so experiment....u never know, u might have a natural musician in your class!

There are loads of things that you can do to do this. You could use classroom objects to create a composition, you could encourage them to learn about rhythms by clapping in a swung style and then write up a score based on what they did!
