In this answer I use the term 'microwave oven' for the type of microwave that cooks food. I use the term 'microwave' to refer to a specific type of wave.

First, you should investigate whether or not food does cook quicker in microwave ovens. You can do this by cooking food in a microwave oven and by another method.

Second, you should investigate the properties of waves. How do they act? What do they do? What are the different types of waves? What is a microwave? How is a microwave different from other types of wave?

Third, you should investigate how the microwaves that a microwave oven produces cause food to cook.

Finally, you should investigate how other methods of cooking (e.g. boiling/baking/steaming) cause food to cook. Comparing this with a microwave over should help you complete your investigation.

Good luck!
