most of these plants are very hardy they will thrive in most house conditions with little water and fertilizer,Some can be more exacting in there riquirements and need more attention_ they grow very slowly and have very shallow rooted, so repotting SHOULD BE DONE INFREQUENTLY,so it depends were you are if your going into winter no wait till it warms up a bit .only if it has totaly out grown pot, if so do it gently, try seasol for fertilizer only a little bit, ihave my cactus growing in little rocks.

It's not too late, but cacti, like most plants, go mostly dormant in the winter so they need very little water. NEVER fertilize a cactus in the winter. It would be better to wait till spring because the growing season is starting and the plant will recover faster. If any roots are damaged now, it can't heal as fast and rot can set in. The pot, soil, and even the roots can be rinsed in a solution of hydrogen peroxide. This will kill the mold and bacteria that cause root rot. Make sure the soil drains well and does not pack tightly around the roots, they need air too. Putting a little hydrogen peroxide in the water when you water the plant will help keep the roots healthy by adding oxygen to the soil and killing pathogens (bad critters.)
