I start my car up and drive a few feet then put my feet on the gas and it stays at 25 miles it doesn't get to the speed of 40 it jerk alot only when i put it in gear 2 is when I can get to 40 I can not drive on the freeway because it doesn't accelerate to the neccessary speed it squeaked when i pull off fast and the temperature gauge goes to hot i pull over and it starts overheating with smoke coming out new plugs were put in and a filter and it still drives very sluggish am i missing something.

If its a stick, which it sounds like, because you mentioned putting it into second gear. Your going to ruin your clutch. You need to shift more than that. Other than that I don't know what to tell you about the overheating thing.

If it's overheating and theres smoke then youve probably done a head!! check your water..if it looks like milky coffee..its gone!

Do a compression test on the cylinders. It sounds like one of your valves is sticking open
