Few reasons:

1. Problem in ur Power supply.

2. Problem in ur RAM. Open ur pc and remove the RAM clean it and reinsert it properly.

3.Problem in ur OS. (OS u r using could be corrupted)

4. Problem could be in ur switch(From Ac/ or ur pc Power button could be loose or faulty)

5. If pc itself get shut down by showing any message then it could be sm spyware. U need to hv a good antivirus or update it from microsoft.com, U might need some patches.

6. U can restart it to safe mode and try to restore at sm earlier restore point. (This will help u if u had recently installed anything new to ur PC).

If it doesnt work then u can mail to with ur system configuration Details.

check the heat stove on the cpu (easy, take off the covver, and see if the big aluminum block is loose). I had this problem, the heat stove was just a hair off the cpu, causing it to overheat and shut down the computer. I know nothing about computer repair, I just spotted it when I opened the back, I fixed it with a cable tie.

My Dad had this problem and getting a new harddrive solved it. He thought it could have been a virus rather than a hardware problem. Might be worth running some virus software on your machine first before spending out money on new components.

Did your computer fall on the floor? because it seems to me there is some misplaced hardware inside your computer. It happened one to my laptop, and they fixed it for me with some glue.... hope this helps.

Could be a bad power supply

Its either a faulty power supply, or, more likely, a faulty power button.
