Well, one sits in isolation in a 6 X 6 windowless cell, moment by moment, day by day staring at his undecorated white wall, holding a dog eared copy of the Koran, waiting to die or go mad. The remaining hijackers are up to their eyeballs in boiling pig urine listening to Satan laughing at their screams or torment for all time.

Yes, it was a suicide mission, so the other answers are correct!
I think only one person has been prosecuted and convicted on charges relating to 9-11 and that was in Hamburg, Germany.
