There are seveal methods.

One obvious one is to heat the mix to 40 degrees, then filter the solid.

The best method I can think of is recrystallization. This envoles adding a solvent that the acid is soluble in when hot, but not when cold while the alcohol is soluble in cold. Heat the mix well, so that all solids are dissolved. Cool the solution in an ice bath. Filter the now pure acid, retaining the liquid. Remove the solvent (rotavap or N2 purge). The two compounds will be seperated well.

If they are optically active, its a big help, otherwise try to esterify them selectively.
