..Can someone please tell me how the phrase, " cut and run" that the president is so fond of, is any different from.. the words he is now spewing about the U.S. pulling out. Can he have it both ways? Does he somehow think he is a hero?

He must be drinking margaritas with Osama at the ranch again. Wet brain logic from an alcoholic.

yes, he thinks he is a hero.

technically, there is a difference. the phrase "cut and run" would imply that we couldn't achieve our objectives, and attempting to try would no longer be worth the costs of national blood and treasure. when those in bush's camp talk about "pulling out", however, they are usually implying that we have achieved our military objectives and set up a democratic infrastructure (police force, govt., etc.) that is capable of dealing with the remaining problems. the argument implies that these problems are essentially local in nature, and the "now stable" iraqi government is inherrently better suited to handle iraqi problems.

reminds me of a quote from some football coach who said "class is, when they're running you out of town, to make it look like you're the one leading the parade."

One thing about the BUSHmeister he is no wimp. When he says he is right he believes it in his bones. The man is simply incapable of believing in his own infallibility. Yes Bush is certain he is a hero and millions of Americans do too.

Peace....
