Depending on how much your rent arrears is there is quite a lot you can do. I was in a similar situation a while back. If you are a private teneant you can go to your local council and inform them, depending on how much you earn they will pay a percentage of your rent for you therefore giving you the option of paying the arrears. They can also help with rehoming you if legal proceedings have started, no matter who you are they are still obliged to help you. If you have a morgage and are in arrears the council will help again even paying some of you morgage payments. If you ask your morgage company to put a hold on the interest payments as most morgage companies are quite understanding. The key to everything is comunication, you have to let people know what your position is because if you ignore it you will surley loose your home. I hope that is of help, get down to the citizen advice and the local council and let people help you , it is not something you have to do on your own.

Having arrears doesnt automatically mean you'll lose your home. Have you talked to the landlord ?? Most - especially if council or housing assc. will accept an offer each week on top of the rent to pay of arrears. If it has reached the stage of court - make sure you attend. Explain to the judge why you couldnt pay, say how sorry you are and make an offer of weekly payments on top of rent and they usually give you a second chance rather than evict. Even more so if you have kids of if losing your home means you would lose your job etc. Seek legal advice either from CAB or from a solicitor with legal aid. Good luck

If the house is council owned or housing association you need to contact them direct or if it is rented from a private landlord go to the citizens advice bureau or visit a solicitor who have specialists in housing law - act straight away, a solution can usually be found.

Although the landlord owns the property it is still your home as you are paying the rent for that property and even the landlord cannot enter the property unless invited by the person living there. Entry can only be gained on the issue of a warrant.

Try to talk to your landlord. I had a similar problem a few years ago, I was four months behind. Luckily my landlord let me repay the arrears at £100 per month on top of my rent til the debt was cleared. It was hard going though.

It's down to your landlord and how much you are in arrears. If it's a month - don't worry. If it's three months....

I've been a landlord and a month is a pain but not something i would throw a tennant out. BUT make sure you talk to your landlord and do your best to ensure you get up to date.

It's also not your home it's the landlords.

One individual is frequently held in cost for all of it. this is frequently happening as being severally to blame. in case you confirm out to do away with as against what the regulation specifies, you would be arrested. It sounds as in spite of the incontrovertible fact that your landlord does now not comprehend the interior attain factors code the two. i ought to upload that it extremely is frequently an exceedingly inconvenience to landlords mutually as tenants do now not pay the hire on time too.

Bad luck mate that happened to me too. As above go to CAB they MAY be able to help but your contract probably states that you will be given notice if you fail to pay as per the contract...
