The love I have for this country is unconditional; I know it's not perfect but I'm not going to pi$$ all over the graves of the men who died to get us this far by complaining about the way things are. Sure, they died so that I would have the right to complain, but that doesn't mean that I have to excercize that right just because I have it. If all the immigrants that came here could bear to leave all the things they left to pursue coming here, then surely the people who just have it SO bad that they can't stand it and want out should be willing to do whatever it takes to leave this country. If it's not even important enough for people to be willing to uproot and move to another country, I don't see how it could be important enough to complain about.

You should go and live in some other countries for several years, then ask yourself that question. BTW if it wasn't the greatest country in the world why would so many people be trying to come here?

Consider this analogy: Imagine this brand new Bugatti Veyron, billed as the world's fastest, most expensive and most exclusive factory-built car. Now imagine it being driven off road and over cliffs by a drunken teenage dropout.

Its not that our country isnt great, its that our great country is being poorly led. Remove the poor drivers and replace them with sane, capable, and responsible ones, and our nation will quickly restore itself to its former greatness.

you love yer situation compared to what you percieve others are experiencing. Ownership, well you own yer little time strip. Thats what we own . What is your perception of what this is as a country? I think you will be a little surprised at what we were really meant to be. As ceasers 13 on yahoo so elloquintly put it. We were set up as a republic ruled by the land owning gentry. We are all republicans. We are all democrats. Remember that one? now they have introduced into the declaration of independence commercial free speech or somethin like that. look it up Colen Powell's son when he was heading the FCC brought it up. Hmmm sumtin cozy there

Greatest is emcompassing word. I don't know if we are the best at EVERYTHING but I think that we have the best CHOICES and overall lifestyle. It's easy to get a job, shop, participate in religion/politics, live in any type of landscape/climate (desert, waterfront, city (small ones or NYCw/Broadway, Hollywood, DC, Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Miami), tundra, island, etc). If you want to live in a gay, black, asian, gun owning, vegetarian or religious community you can find the right one here. (You can even join a cult if you wish.) I think that you can be anything you want here and I must say that it really isn't like that in other countries even developed ones.

The USA is nice, at least in parts, especially its National Parks. Politically it sucks. I'd rather be here where I am, in Switzerland.
