I've noticed that most insects are attracted to lights, some more than others, but that's why they have bug lights or bug zappers. Flies are less drawn to light than most bugs I've noticed, they home in to sight and smell.

Let's get something straight, not ALL flies move toward any source of light, that's just a stereotype. Some of my best friends are flies and they would be very offended by such a question. Jerk.
