The smell from leather is usually caused when it gets wet. After it drys out (or now if it's not wet), put some waterproofing oil on it and rub it in. You might have to do it twice, but it should help the smell.

I had the same problem with leather watch bands and quit wearing them years ago. Efforts at correction or prevention (saddle soap, cleaning products, sealing products) will probably produce inconsistent results and be more hassle than is reasonable. Consider purchasing belts made of fabric webbing or synthetic leather.

i'd bypass confer with a leather-based expert, shoe fix shops will understand. It sounds to me like the dye or tanning technique went undesirable. it may well be much less annoying to in basic terms replace it. rather if it does not scent such as you will assume, a reasonable soothing leather-based scent it in all probability will never scent that way......hell, overlook asking a leather-based expert, replace it for a sparkling one, probability is the undesirable batch wasn't that great and the subsequent one would be positive. I honestly in no way theory you will could sniff a belt....yet guy, jogs my memory of a chick that bought a comforter at IKEA and had the comparable situation, even after she washed it it nonetheless smelled undesirable. IKEA would in basic terms replace it, in basic terms all of them smelled horrid......as quickly as she went to the community information they gave her a reimbursement, yet in basic terms after it became on the information!
