I think in most slasher movies it helps is you think the victims deserved it in some way. Sometimes for having sex or just being dumb. I wouldn't feel little kids deserved to be hurt.
They also use teenagers because teenagers are the target audience.

Proably not, although I don't tend to watch slasher films anyway. I prefer a little more story then most offer. If it is a good story I may be fine with the age being like that. Ever see The Good Son? Put someone like Culkin's character being slashed and who would get too upset? He was evil.

Not really. Most people like the teen slasher movies because they can project. (for example: take that, girl who called me names in high school! yeah, axe to the head for the jerk who tripped me...and so on ) But little kids in a horror movie is like gluing bricks to pigeons. It just doesn't fly.

It depends on how voilent and gorey the movie would be...I mean, 8-12 year old kids get killed in reality so I don't see why not?
