It dates back to a myth created by Anslinger, the DEA guy: http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html

Maijuana does not help one think. We are the best when we are fully alert. Being stoned gives you the impression that you can do and know a lot of things, but that's just that, your brains' chemicals are physically altered.

My opinion on all drugs is do what you want, it's your life. Just don't hurt anyone.

Alcohol and Marijuana are similar in their effects. What's the worst that could happen when someone drinks? Kill someone in a car. The same goes with marijuana in that it slows your reflexes. But if done responsibly, ie not driving under the influence, why not have fun?

It is worse than cigarettes, in that it's the equivalent of 4 on your lungs.

Why do people consider pot-heads dangerous? They equate them to drunks, and not ever pot-head is a hippie. Whenever you are in an altered state of conciousness, your behavior can be uncontrollable.

I usually can't tell when a friend is high and don't care. But just like some people can't handle their liquor, others can't handle their pot.

I believe that marijuana is at the very least equivelent to the dangers of cigarettes on the human body. Perhaps even worse because the smoke is held in the lungs as long as posible. This allows more material to settle out and more damage to the cillia in the lungs that keep them clean, and able to absorbe the Oxygen at the rate needed. Being "high" is a mis-nomer, actully you are at a lower mental state than when you are straight. You feel less emotion, you feel less motivation, you feel less self esteem, you feel anger at anyone you feel has a different point of view. You try to get you friends to try it, why? Because you feel seperated from your friends if they do not want to share your "Dope". You want someone else to sit with you and say WOW man this S*** is some good S*** and at only $100 dollars a quarter. Are you hungry man?You react to straight talk about drugs just like cigarette smokers do about reading the Surgon General's warning on Cigarette packs.

You are loosing out on all the real highs that life offers you. You will not be able to find a job that you want because they require a drug test. You will miss having the life style you share with your lover and your kids because of your habit. Since you wont be able to get your butt up to even get to work on time. Then even if you have $100 to save for a new living room set you will spend it on Marijuana. this is especially true if your mate uses too.

Beyond that how many Surgeons and Drs or Airline Pilots would you like to take a chance on if you knew they were high on pot? Think if you still can.

I think that people who have been drinking should be considered more dangerous than people who have been smoking. A lot of people when they consume alcohol, participate in a lot of risk-taking behavior, such as driving at fast speeds, picking fights, etc. I don't know very many people who would do that while high unless they were likely to do it without being high anyway.

I personally think it's stupid that people who smoke are considered dangerous. I know lots of people who contribute wonderfully to society who are pot smokers. Like someone else on this board said, just as some cannot handle their liquor, some people can't handle smoking pot. The entire potsmoking community should not be judged on account of those idiots. I myself smoked pot everyday of my college career and graduated summa c'um laude with departmental honors.

i know c'um laude isn't spelled like that but yahoo is starring out the word.....annoying...

We are considered so dangerous because that is the image the government wants to perceive us, to the public. They have been trying hard to damage the reputation of marijuana user in order for their war on drugs to work. The anti-marijuana ads that they spend so much money on is proof of their slander, and also Ineffective.

Because Marijuana can lead to 'thinking' and thought is dangerous in a Fascist society. Imagine an entire nation questioning the need for war & slaughter? Could get dangerous.

Actually all opiates are natural; heroin, morphine, opium- - - what is unatural is Crystal Meth/Ice/ Batu - - - clearly a chemical concoction.....

Peace....

I have proof that Marijuana rots the brain. I lost a friend several years ago when he went cracy and then died of a stroke. He was less than 30. Unfortunately I watched this happen over a period of six months. Avoid it. It'll make you happy but eventually it will kill you.
