I had this problem, not w/ AOE 3 but with Activesync... Try scanning for viruses, spyware, and registry Errors.

Try the update patches for the game, as well as the updates for windows.

This game is for XP only, though there was a workaround for 2000.

If all else fails try a backup, and re-install of Windows.

If you're clicking on a shortcut, maybe try seeing where that shortcut is pointing.

Try looking for the program using Windows Explorer. If you installed it to the default directory, then it's probably in C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games. Look for the .exe file that would probably run the game.

Maybe something else is wrong though and you should just uninstall and reinstall it. (if you are using Windows XP, to uninstall it, go to the start menu, go to control panel, and click on "add/remove programs." Find Age of Empires in the list and click on it and click the "change/remove" button)

Hey,
I easily got for free Age of Empires IIIhere: http://j.mp/1p0vKxA

The game is awesome! The addition to the expansions of this game makes it much improved. The graphics is fixed, even when the cannons shoot, realistic smoke comes out. The game play is very polished. It doesn't use Internet connection to run this game.
It's a very nice game.

Posting the specs on your laptop would help a great deal with being able to tell you what you'd be able to play. As is, I'll just list off some low spec games. TES 3 : Morrowind Unreal Tournament 2004 Command and Conquer (any of the older games) SWAT 4 These are just some of the low demand games my crappy old computer can run. Made in '06 I think.

Age of The Empire 3 is a game I grew up with. I had loads of fun playing this for very very long hours. In my opinion, this game is amazing. It has fantastic graphics and lot of new and cool features and upgrades which added more excitement and entertainment in the game.
