The UK has too many historic sights for one person to see in a whole year, not just the wintertime! You need to tell us what kinds of sights might interest you most.

Some of the most obvious places are Stonehenge, Edinburgh Castle, Hadrian's Wall, York Minster and Canterbury Cathedral, the Elizabethan heritage of Stratford-upon-Avon, the colleges of Oxford University and the Tower of London.

The temperature rarely drops below 0°C in London, but further north it can get down to -10° in the daytime and even lower at night, at the most extreme. But most of the time, in most of the country, it will probably be between about 5 and 15°C.

Pretty much all the same places you could visit in the summer time. Yes, it will be cold, colder as you head further North. Not undoable though, unless you are a total wuss when it comes to the cold. Just bundle up and layer well, have a good hat & gloves, preferably a wool coat, & waterproof boots. I'm originally from desert country and I did just fine riding on an open top bus through London at night on New Year's Day (hit the pub for a few good whiskeys after that one) and sleeping in front of open windows in Edinburgh. Seriously, if you plan to do any hiking, take a flask of whiskey along for periodic warm-ups.
