2 months ago a friend reformatted my hard drive, right before I moved to a different country. Then, about a month ago, he helped my set up my wireless network (We did this over the phone.) I know very little about computers; he is quite knowledgable. I had a lot of trouble setting up my wireless network and when he was helping me I gave him my ISP and/or IP address.

With all of this information of mine, is it possible that now he can access and/or moniter my computer? How would I be able to tell?

I know nothing about computers. Please help.

He can't if you have a strong firewall like ZoneAlarm. you can have its free edition from the given link:

Follow the previous two answers and make sure the Remote Access is turned off and you Firewall program is turned on.

Most ISP use a Dynamic IP address system. This means that everytime you turn on your computer you get an new IP address. ISP's a issued a block of IP addresses. When you turn off your computer the IP address you was using is then assigned to another computer.

The important thing for you to do is change your password(s). This Microsoft site discusses making and using Strong Passwords.

Yes he can, but only if you still have the same IP address. Depending on your service is really the answer. If you have a service that gives you a dynamic IP address then you'll be okay. However, if your IP address is static he can monitor your computer, unless you have a firewall and disable a few things like stated above, however, he can still monitor traffic to and from your computer, even if you do have a firewall.

He can, disable the remote access by right clicking "My Computer" and "Remote" and unclick "Allow Remote Access".
