If an estate was incorrectly given out a generation/s ago, can this be corrected today?

What would happen if everything (eg. property) has now disappeared, but you could prove it was to go to certain people & therefore should never have been sold?

Can the courts make it right now? Or is the inheritance lost forever?

Once it has been divided & shared equally according to the Will amongst the beneficiaries it is final. No the courts can not do anything. It was the lawyer at the times resposiblity to find the most recent Will, also this is why when making a Will you are encouraged to tell not only your executors but trusted family members and friends where your most recent Will is held.

In general if it was generations ago, it is lost.

Wills could be found in all papers in a persons home, in attorneys offices and the such.
