I would be very surprised if the Mets beat the Tigers. The Mets pitching is just not there. After Galvine what's left? The Tigers are in a groove at the moment and have two HOT pitchers with 100 plus MPH fastballs. Tigers should win in 6 games.

At this point of the season, none of the previous regular season stats or trends mean anything. The Tigers had lost 6 in a row, then mowed down the Yankees. The Mets had a .300 winning average the last 2 weeks of the season and now swept the Dodgers. Post-season has its own rules and therefore, a key sub player who suddenly gets hot, or a 4th-string pitcher who throws a 2-hitter is what its all about. Right now, the emotional momentum goes to the Mets and Tigers, but if San Diego pulls off a comeback on the Cards, they could be a force to reckon with.
I personally am rooting for the Mets because of the looseness and team camaraderie they have shown all year long--never at any key point in their season have they been uptight and were in contention in almost every game they played. There is always someone doing clutch hitting--if not Wright or Reyes today, then Chavez or Lo Duca or Beltran.
Also, their bullpen has been sensational and in short series of 5-7 games, that might be the difference.

the mets have a decent shot but the cards are actually playing well, they are up 2-1, and if NY can come back they have a decent chance vs. detroit though the tigers will be the favorite. it'll be interesting how all the time off the tigers will have will effect detroit. In the end i pick detroit over new york in 6, but i'll be rooting for the mets.

I don't think so. They have no depth in the pitching staff at the moment. It's possible that they might not even get passed the Cardinals. In any case neither the Cardinals nor the Mets match up very well against the Tigers.

Alright, so the Mets have been the butt of the joke for a long time. But when it gets to the point where they're just kickin' everybody's ***, we'll see who'll be laughin'. This is not the end of the Mets, they're just gettin' started. So yeah, they'll be goin' all the way, alright. With Omar, Willie and the amazin' players, I have great confidence in them.

Because I was once a Mets fan, I'd say Mets, particulrly since they've been out of it for a few years...On the other hand, I'm always for any team that kicks Yankee buns, so I like Detroit. I'd like to see Mets aginst Detroit and let the hungier and luckier team win.
