You guys dont know what yr missing, the early reggaeton was actually repitious beats, and its true orgins is from Puerto Rico. Now reggaeton has a rap style mixed to it, for example the new album from "Hector El Bambino -Los Rompe Discotekas" with producer Jay-Z. Check out "Noriega -Sin Control" sort of danceable reggaeton. There are new music branches from the original reggaeton style.

Whatever you're thinking is correct. It's a very distinctive kind of music.
Also the beat is supposed to be practically the same in every song, you're not imagining that.
