Hamsters are lovely - They do not require a lot of attention, low profile no noise no smell and very clean. They are fun too, and the only shortcoming is their short life span they live no more than two to three years.

yes, if you like the idea of playing rats w/out tails. But on a more serious note, they are usually good for younger childeren that are begging for a puppy. Get them hampsters instead of a fish, you know, something that can be touched

Not really.
Hamsters are solitary critters. They like being left alone. That includes human friends as well as other hamsters. They tend to be sort of cranky and quick to bite.
They are also awake at night and make a suprising amount of noise.
If you want a small furry, consider a rat. Believe it or not, they make fantastic pets. They are smart, loyal, and live in families, so they enjoy being around people. They are sort of the dogs of the rodent pet world. They are clean and adjust to your schedule so they will be awake when you want him to be and sleep at night.

i think hamsters are a great pet. they don't need that much maintenance. perfect for those who have long hours at a job and not home a lot. what i mean about the maintenance is they don't have to be groomed and they don't make a huge mess like other animals may. and they don't cost that much to purchase and feed, and pretty much amuse themselves and you too. they are so cute to watch. just give them a reasonable size cage, a few toys, food, and water and they will be happy. :)

Hi, I bought a hamster for my daughter when she was
8yrs old. We took it back a day later after it bit her two
times and drew blood.
We bought a Guinea pig instead. Now Guinea pigs are great pets!

hampster can only be a good pet if it"s pet owner is going to see to caring to it properly . If you handle them too much, overfeed them, or don,t keep their cage immaculate, Your house will stink and they will die!!

I personally think they are dump pets. They mostly sleep all day and run in a dumb wheel all night. I have to admit, it is amusing to see how much they can stuff in their cheeks.
